Zimbabwean Rapper Nadia Nakai On SA’s ‘Rhythm City’

Zimbabwean Rapper Features on South African Soapie

Nadia Nakai Kandava, an upcoming Zimbabwean female rapper based in South Africa, is making enormous strides beyond the borders.

The “Saka Wena” singer made an appearance on Monday in the hit South African series “Rhythm City” showing off her versatile prowess of rapping and acting.

She had a cameo role in the series playing herself (as musician) at an awards ceremony. In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Nadia revealed that hard work has paid off for her.

“This is big for me, 2015 is certainly my year. Featuring on ‘Rhythm City’ will open more doors for me as an independent emcee and hopefully Zimbabwean female rappers will see that hard work pays off,” she said.

The nifty sensational rapper recently collaborated with Nigerian heavyweight rapper Ice Prince on a single entitled “Saka Wena”.

“I’m proud of the song and collaboration and I’m inspired that my music and skill has been recognised by a great artist like Ice Prince.

“My main goal is putting women in hip hop on the map and I think I’m doing a good job so far,” she said. A video for ‘Saka Wena’ also premiered on Monday on Channel O and Live Amp.

Ice Prince, who has worked with almost every major West African artiste, has been quoted as saying “the single is amazing”.

Last year was a breakthrough year for Nadia when she featured on one of the biggest remixes, “Amantombazane,” and performed with the cream of African talent at the Channel O African Music awards.

Nadia, who has been working on her debut album since early 2014, is now confident that her project is near completion. The album is set for release soon and is supported by features from L-Tido, Sphum, Reason, Dot Com and Kwesta.
