South Sudan President in Luanda for ICGLR Extraordinary Meeting
Luanda — The president of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, arrived last Sunday afternoon in Luanda, capital of Angola, to participate on Monday in the Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
The South Sudan Head of State was welcomed in 4 de Fevereiro International Airport by the Angolan Foreign Affairs minister, Georges Rebelo Chikoti, and the Energy and Water minister, João Baptista Borges, as well as by top presidential aides.
According to information collected by ANGOP at the airport, from sources linked to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, this extraordinary summit, among other aspects will analyse the prevailing situation in the Great Lakes region.
Angola is hosting such meeting in its capacity as chair of the ICGLR.
The ICGLR comprises Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic (CAR), Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan and Tanzania.
