Iggy Azalea has said ‘yes’ to her NBA player beau, Nick Young and a massive 10.43 carat diamond ring.The sportsman got down on one knee and proposed to his love during his 30th birthday party on Monday night in Los Angeles.
The basketball player presented the 24-year-old Australian rapper with a giant Jason Of Beverly Hills engagement ring valued at an eye-watering $500,000 (£250,000).The ring has a 8.15 carat Fancy Intense Yellow cushion cut center stone with 2.28 carats of white diamonds set onto 18 carat white gold.Unable to hide her excitement, Iggy took to social media to show off her stunning new piece of bling and let fans know this is her ‘happiest day’.
She is seen beaming as she cuddles up to her new fiance, her left hand held close to her chest, while in another snap the lovebirds lean in to lock lips. ‘Love you @swaggyp1,’ she writes, tagging the basketballer who wrote on social media: ‘She said yes. It’s over man. I’m getting married!’ Nick kept his attire casual for the big proposal earlier in the day, although the glimmering ring he presented made it quite the extravagant affair.
Dressed in a white T-shirt layered with a black jacket, he asks: ‘Would you marry me?’ he asked his musician lady love, in a video shared on social media by Karen Civil.’Yes,’ Iggy responded without hesitation, triggering the cheers of their close friends attending the birthday bash.
And there was no doubt the ring was quite the impressive piece of bling. ‘Nick was very involved in designing the ring,’ said Jason Arasheben, CEO of Jason of Beverly Hills.’We wanted it to be both a ring of Iggy’s dreams and a ring that fit her personal style. Dressed down for her man’s birthday, Iggy was seen sporting a pale pink blouse teamed with white trousers when Nick popped the big question.The blonde, whose long locks were worn out sleek and straight, also donned a maroon coloured hat.
Iggy and Nick have been dating for over a year-and-a-half and it was only very recently that he hinted an engagement was on the cards.When asked if marriage was a possibility, he told PEOPLE: ‘Of course! Of course!
‘But I can’t give you that surprise. You’re gonna ruin that surprise.’Earlier on Monday Iggy had been spotted running errands in LA just before the party.Completely unaware of was was to befall her just a matter of hours later, the singer, dressed in a marrone jumper and tiny pair of short-shorts, was seen picking up a blue and black gift bag and other goods at a pharmacy.
She also took to Instagram to wish her Los Angeles Lakers star boyfriend a happy birthday.’Happy 30th to my now old man Nick! I’ll save the really mushy stuff for inside your birthday card that way you can blackmail me with it later,’ she wrote.The celebrity couple have been dating since September 2013, with Nick having a three-year-old son named Nick Jr. from a previous relationship.Iggy and Nick’s first date was quite memorable, with the pair trekking around the discount store, Target, buying socks.
But fast forward 17 months to February this year, and the pair pushed the boat for their second Valentine’s day together as they marked the romantic occasion with a trip to Hawaii.Celebrating their first anniversary in September 2014, their special day wasn’t as romantic as a vacation in Hawaii as Iggy decided she wanted to mark the occasion by taking a trip to Target just like their first ever date.
Taking to his Instagram at the time, Nick shared a picture of his lover and accompanied it with the caption: ‘Happy Anniversary boo thang ..1 yr ago I put my Mack down and took this girl on a date to Target, and she’s been trapped since lol (sic).’
The big engagement news comes just days after Iggy cancelled her world tour via email to ticket holders.The official statement read: ‘The Iggy Azalea Great Escape Tour scheduled for this fall has been cancelled and refunds are available at point of purchase. There will be a new tour planned around Iggy‘s new record to be released in 2016 and we apologize for any inconvenience’.
The rapper was supposed to kick off her string of American shows on September 18 in San Diego, after having previously planned to start her tour in California on April 14.
In March a statement released by Def Jam records announced the tour has been postponed for five months.’The tour getting pushed back only means that it’ll be way more amazing than it would’ve been in April. Good things take time’ a spokesperson posted to the rapper’s Twitter account on her behalf.
A statement explained further that the cancellation was due to ‘production delays’ and ‘to accommodate for creative team availability and tour production plans’.
