This is the jaw-dropping moment a commuter heroically wrestled a knifeman who stormed a busy London bus in broad daylight.

Footage captured the brave passenger tackling the man and grabbing the huge knife off him on the number 149 bus in Stoke Newington, north west London, on Tuesday.

The armed man realised he had lost his weapon and made a frantic dash out of the bus, as passengers looked on in horror.

In the terrifying video, the victim was seen pushing the knifeman against the bus’ closed front doors in attempt to get the weapon off him.

The struggling knifeman hooked his leg around him, but the hero pinned him against the glass pane of the driver’s section – and grabbed the knife off him.

As his attacker ran away, he could be seen holding onto the massive knife.

He shouted after him: ‘I’m an African, you never take my life!’

Viewers were horrified by the footage, with one writing on Twitter: ‘That video of the youth trying to stab the man on the bus in Stoke Newington… SMH’.

Another commented: ‘That is some real guts there. Going up against a knife barehanded almost assures getting stabbed.’
A third viewer agreed: ‘Brave guy, very happy he got away with a few cuts.’

‘Holy s*** what a boss taking that knife away look at the coward run after being disarmed too!’ another wrote.
Met Police confirmed that they were called to reports of a stabbing at 1.55pm.

A man in his 20s suffered minor cuts to his hand and head and was taken to hospital.

A spokesman said: ‘He was taken to an East London hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

‘He has now been discharged. There have been no arrests and enquires continue.

Police urged any witnesses or people who may have filmed the incident to call 07500 607 652 or the police non-emergency line on 101.

It comes just days after a 27-year-old woman was left in hospital after being stabbed multiple times in Stoke Newington.

A 243 bus driver is believed to have jumped out of the bus and called 999 after seeing the woman lying in the road on April 9.

Police are hunting her attacker, who struck by a junction in the early hours of Sunday morning.

She was rushed to an East London hospital with critical injuries – but is no longer though to be in a life-threatening state, Scotland Yard said. No one has been arrested over the stabbing.

Back in March, a 15-year-old boy was knifed in the street in Lordship Road, Stoke Newington.

Paramedics found the panicked teenager bleeding in the road at 10.20pm and rushed him to hospital. His injuries were later pronounced not life threatening.

Scotland Yard statistics revealed there were an average of 33 knife offences a day in London in the last year.
