Buhari Visit to Benin Comes to An End
President Muhammadu Buhari will visit Cotonou, Benin Republic, tomorrow to attend the country’s 55th independence anniversary.
This is contained in a programme tagged “Commemoration of the 55th Independence National Day of Benin Republic, 1st August, 2015,” obtained yesterday at the Nigerian Embassy in Cotonou.
President Buhari is expected to be the special guest of honour at the event.
He will use the opportunity of his one-day visit to meet with representatives of the Nigerian Community in Benin Republic.
Before he returns to Abuja, the president will also visit the Nigerian International School, Cotonou.
Presidential spokesperson Femi Adesina had earlier said Buhari would undertake a one-day trip to Benin Republic today for talks with President Boni Yayi to round-off the diplomatic shuttles to neighbouring countries.
President Buhari had, on assumption of office, embarked on trips to strengthen regional cooperation against terrorism and make it much harder for Boko Haram insurgents to operate across national boundaries.
