Zimbabwe’s richest man has finally dropped his special announcement killing that other bit of speculation which to be perfectly honest at this stage did not make sense.
In a Facebook comment on a post on Thursday he said
#My Special Announcement:
In January we will announce an Internship competition for two entrepreneurs who will get an opportunity to spend time at one of our businesses, as well as one week traveling with me as I go about my business. Details of how to participate will be released before the end of January. It will be open to anyone (from anywhere in the world) who currently participates in my Facebook forum, and is familiar with things I have been teaching on entrepreneurship
This is a pretty sweet deal we think. It delves into one thing we get so little on from leaders on the continent. Many of Africa’s brightest minds have almost always had to start from zero because the crop of leaders do not seem so keen on letting talented people get insight into the real world around them.
Even looking at the arts, very rarely do you find some of the continent’s most celebrated taking the most promising on tours just to get an understanding of how that life is. You won’t find any literature, any basic ideas on how to survive in the real world save for what Donald Trump tries to share with you for example, The Art Of The Deal. But even that doesn’t quite get you there, never mind the fact that the challenges they have and the ones for a young mind from the continent are different.
While it would have been great if there was a specific quota for Zimbabweans, the reality is that he affects a lot more than this neck of the woods and is a gift we have now given to the world.
