President Peter Mutharika Snubs Zambia’s Edgar Lungu

The 51st Independence celebrations did not just go down without any executive scandal as Malawi President Peter Mutharika gave a cold shoulder to the Zambian President Edgar Chagwa Lungu who was the only President that graced the occasion which has been billed at K300 million.

The proceedings saw the Zambian President deliver a powerful speech when compared to the uninspirational message from Mutharika which was inaudible as all his other skills. Malawians on social media were all over flattering Lungu while Mutharika was being ridiculed for his speech which did not inspire excitement in Malawians except for his party followers who cheer at everything that he delivers although they do not understand him.

In what has been said to be anger and jealousy over his people’s adoration of a foreign head of state President Mutharika then left the celebrations in a hurry at half time leaving behind the visiting President who had stolen the shine from him.

Lungu however was unfazed as he went on to celebrate Malawi national football team’s lone goal that was scored by Chiukepo Msowoya in the second half. His celebration made many Malawians who watched the match wish their President was Lungu who is well known in Zambia for his love of the bottle.

A social commentator Emily Luwani fired shots at Mutharika for acting childish at the celebration.

“Only kids abandon events because somebody is outshining them,” said Luwani claiming Mutharika had behaved like a kid.
