Zambia Police Service warn job seekers over bogus job scams

THE Zambia Police Service is warning residents to be aware of the resurgence of a scam involving offers of employment in the service.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has told Mwebantu that a fraudster has emerged on Whats App platform purporting to be Head of Zambia Police PRD.

The suspect in his viral Whats App post is asking police applicants to send him money using airtel money on a phone number he has provided if the applicants are to be included on the list of those to be recruited in the recently advertised police recruitment.

The police have since instituted investigations in the matter and have appealed to the public to report to police any person going round soliciting money from members of the public under the pretext of helping them to join the service.

“There is a fraudster whose post is circulating on Whatsapp purporting to be head of Police PRD (whatever that means) and is asking applicants in the Police recently advertised recruitment to send him money using his whatsup line alongside a medical report and NRC. Members of the public should not fall for such lies as the people involved are fraudsters and will just steal their money,” disclosed Katongo.

Katongo reminded members of the public that only Police Commissioners have been tasked to conduct police recruitment and no one else.
