Scam: Chechen women ‘conned ISIS out of cash’

A trio of young Muslim women have been conning ISIS by setting up fake social media accounts and getting the terror group to send them money to travel to Syria to become jihadi brides, according to police.

Once the terror group wired funds to the con artists, from Chechnya, they allegedly deleted the accounts and pocketed the money.

ISIS uses social media to encourage men and women to travel to the lands controlled by ISIS to become fighters and jihadi brides. The Republic of Chechnya is a federal subject of Russia and mainly Muslim.

Now the trio have been detained by Chechen e-crime police for the scam, which has so far netted them more than £2,000, Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper reported.

“I don’t recall any precedent like this one in Chechnya, probably because nobody digs deep enough in that direction,” officer Valery Zolotaryov told the newspaper.

“Anyhow, I don’t advise anyone to communicate with dangerous criminals, especially for grabbing quick money.”

One of the girls told LifeNews she had previously seriously considered joining ISIS.

“Many people I know did go, but I know no one for whom it turned out well,” she said.

Twins Salma and Zahra Halane , 17, are among a “cluster of British women” using social media to persuade others to travel to Syria and Iraq.

They are said to be embarking on an online grooming campaign which promises young girls a “brave and strong husband”.

Messages from the sisters are usually sent over Twitter and Instagram, according to a report from the Institute for Strategic Dialogue.

They claim girls will be protected from sexual objectification by the extremist organisation’s version of Sharia law.

However, the reality is that many foreign women who travel to join the group are married off to fighters as ‘rewards’ and many are sexually abused.
