Warrant of arrest for Ginimbi
SOCIALITE and businessman, Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure, has been issued with an administrative warrant of arrest.
Gnimbi, who is currently in the United States, yesterday failed to present himself before Harare magistrate Morgan Nemadire who then issued him with the warrant.
The flamboyant businessman has been summoned to court together with co-accused Wicknell Chivayo.
The duo are being charged with two counts of fraud.
Kadungure is being represented by Honourable Jonathan Samkange while Chivayo has Advocate Lewis Uriri in his corner.
In his submissions, Samkange told the court that his client was unable to report at court because he was in the United States.
The State is alleging that sometime in November 2012, Chivayo connived with Kadungure and created a fictitious company they named Transco Civil Engineering, purportedly based in South Africa.
Further, the duo opened an ABSA bank account and an e-mail account procurement@marangediamonds.com purporting to be doing business for Marange Diamonds, one of the companies that operated in Chiadzwa, Marange.
It is also alleged the duo rented a space at Hetzner (Private) Limited in South Africa from where they operated from.
Chivayo and Kadungure contacted the first complainant who is yet to be revealed, pretending to be chief buyers at Marange Resources, looking for mining pumps.
They gave the complainant an order 10 T-90 Transco-Flo Helical Rotor pumps to which he deposited ZAR446 900 and ZAR300 000.
After the transaction, the complainant was told to go back to Zimbabwe and wait for his delivery which would come after three days via DHL.
However, to his surprise, the complainant got a parcel full of cellphone chargers.
The State also alleges that the two approached former MP Dexter Nduna in the same manner before he was given an order for 20 T-90 Transco Helical Rotor pumps.
The matter has been postponed to October 9 for trial.
