Bobi Wine’s friend Muhammed Kirumira ‘shot at’ near Bulenga
Gunmen have reportedly shot at suspended Buyende District Police Commander Muhammad Kirumira and his wife. The two who were driving in the family car were reportedly shot near their home in Bulenga, Wakiso District. The attackers were riding on a boda boda.
His body and that of his wife have been removed from the scene of the crime and taken to a hospital
Kirumira who was a commander for the Buyende district police earlier this year, turned his guns towards his security institution and employers, and publicly criticized them.
He was charged for neglect of duty, corruption charges and irregular misconduct. Back in January 2018 Flying squad Unit operatives forced their way into ASP Kirumira’s house in Bulenga, Wakiso District before whisking him to detention. Two of the charges against him were later dropped.
Back in April 2018, the police Disciplinary Court chaired by Denis Odongpiny recommended that ASP Kirumira be demoted after it found him guilty of unlawful; or unnecessary excessive use of authority contrary to section 44(1) and 24(a) of the Uganda Police code.
Muhammed Kirumira’s shooting makes the second this year of a public figure after Ibrahim Abiriga. In terms of high Profile Police personnel, he is the second in two years after Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
