Panic hit Kenyatta University as US President Barack Obama’s Marine One helicopter landed at the Amphitheatre for a drill on Tuesday.
No wonder President Obama said at a recent event that he would prefer to visit Kenya as a private citizen than as a president which comes with huge logistical challenges. His Marine One helicopter caused a stir when it landed at the university on Tuesday.
Marine One and the four US marine V22 Osprey choppers which escorted it, performed a drill at the university in preparation for his arrival. The drill lasted for approximately ten minutes.
The US president uses the helicopter when he is travelling within a country and he is expected to use that in Kenya even more than his official limousine, ‘The Beast’.
Obama will arrive in Kenya on Friday and will remain there till Sunday. One of his scheduled activities is to deliver a speech on Sunday at the Kenyatta University.
