Buju Banton Accepts Jesus, Becomes Pastor, But Has He Approved Of Homosexuality?

Six years after being convicted of drug trafficking, dancehall artiste Buju Banton has publicly renounced his unlawful ways after being baptized and is now an ordained minister.

Speaking with the Late O’Clock News from a federal prison outside of Tampa, Florida, Buju Banton- real name Mark Myrie, who penned lyrics such as “all fruits ripe
unuh a gwaan” and “rom quarter mile I see them a run come all girls know is time to have fun”, gave us some insight into his decision:

“First and foremost, allow me to use this opportunity to offer a heartfelt apology to all of the people who I may have offended with my music. I was an angry youth back then, full of misplaced angst. In my quiet period of introspection during these last six years, I thought that perhaps I should become a better role model to the youth of this ever-changing era.”

In the wake of this revelation however, there remained one burning question among fans and journalists alike- has Buju’s new found spirituality changed his opinion on homosexuality? The man who wrote the infamous “Boom Bye-Bye” had a startling confession:

“When I first entered these prison walls, I knew that there would be no shortage of homo-erotic activity. At first, I was repulsed. The thought was so nauseating. But now that I am an ordained pastor, when the United States Supreme Court legalised gay marriage, I knew what must be done.”

In a complete turnaround, Buju revealed that he has now dedicated his life as a pastor to marrying gay couples in prison. As the interview came to a close, Reverend Myrie had these parting words:

I guess you can say…circumstances made me what I am today.
