A German rapper who joined the Islamic State group and publicly threatened President Barack Obama was killed in a US air strike in Syria, a defense official said.

Denis Cuspert, also known by his artist name Deso Dogg, used to rap in Berlin and was one of the most famous Western fighters for the IS extremist group.

“I can confirm that an October 16 strike near Raqa killed Denis Cuspert,” US Defense Department spokeswoman Elissa Smith said.

Cuspert joined IS in 2012 and went on to appear in numerous videos from the militant group, including one in November last year “in which he appears holding a severed head he claims belongs to a man executed for opposing ISIL,” the State Department previously said.

Cuspert had pledged an oath of loyalty to IS group leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and was a chief recruiter of German fighters.

According to Smith, Cuspert threatened Obama and US and German citizens, and had also encouraged Western Muslims to carry out IS-inspired attacks.

“Cuspert was a foreign terrorist fighter and operative for ISIL who used social media to take advantage of disaffected youth and potential Western recruits,” she said, using an alternative name for the IS group.

IS prohibits music, but singing is allowed, and some of the jihadists’ grisly videos are set to a vocal sound track.

Earlier in the day, a defense official speaking on condition of anonymity said that Cuspert “was not considered a high-value target (and) we were not specifically targeting him.”

He also noted that other IS jihadists may have been hit.

Jihadist sources in April 2014 said Cuspert had been killed in Syria but they later retracted the claim.

Cuspert, who later went by Abu Talha al-Almani, was listed as an Al-Qaeda supporter by the United Nations.

Now, this is a story all about how My life got flipped-turned upside down And I’d like to take a minute Just sit right there I’ll tell you how I became Emir of a place called Iraq
In west Berlin born and raised On the playground where I raged most of my days Reading Koran’ing blaming the West all cool Imaging shooting some infidels outside of the school When a couple of Imams who were up to no good Starting preaching hate in my neighborhood I went to one little sermon and my got scared I said “I’m moving with my rifle to ISIS in Iraq”

She begged and pleaded with me day after day But I packed my bombs and Koran and went on my way She started crying but then I showed my ticket I put my Jihad podcast on and said “Might as well kick it!”

First class, yo this is bad Sinning one last time with a champagne glass Is this what the people of the West live like? Hmmm this ain’t right!

But wait I hear they’re prissy, suicide boming and all that Is the type of place that they send this cool cat? I don’t think so I’ll see when I get there I hope they’re prepared for the Emir of Iraq!

Well, the plane landed and when I came out There was a dude who looked like a cop standing there with my name out I ain’t trying to get arrested yet I just got here I sprang with quickness like lightning, disappeared

I whistled for a Toyota truck and when it came near The license said “Death to infidels!” and had a knife in the mirror If anything I could say that this truck was rare But I thought “Nah, forget it – yo, home to Baghdad!”

I pulled up up to the arsenal about 7 or 8 And yelled to the truck driver “yo home kill ya later!” I looked at my Emirate I was finally there To sit on my throne as the Emir of Iraq

I just cannot comprehend the logic of someone voluntarily going to Syria to join ISIS. Normally I am pretty good at at least understanding all sides of any argument or morality question even if I don’t agree with it. But seriously, they are committing genocide that is literally worse than the Nazis. The Nazis at least usually imprisoned civilians first, and for the most part only killed Jews, but ISIS is killing basically anyone not a Sunni Muslim. They are capturing women and forcing them to be sex slaves, allowing their leaders to rape literally anyone they feel like. How could anyone, possibly think this is not completely psychotic?

what did he seriously think was going to happen?

did he think isis was gonna be victorious? did he think the established govts (read those with oil money) in the ME were gonna let isis roll in and behead them? did he think the govts of countries dependent on ME oil were gonna let isis cut off oil to the infidel or raise the price to the point of bankrupting their countries?

isis is going to get their child raping, goat fucking asses wiped out. the world will pick someone like russia – that just does not care about world opinion – and lay waste to isis genghis khan style.

I heard he had 3D IMAX tickets to THE FORCE AWAKENS 7pm showing on the 17th of December at the Chinese in Hollywood. Hope he didn’t have them on him… or there will be a few empty seats.

This is a serious question: how is ISIS so successful at recruiting members from other countries? I really don’t get how someone could just up and leave their country to join the most notorious terrorist group in the world.
