The night river traffic between the town of Soyo and the regions of Boma and Matadi in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), through the Nóqui municipality border, northern Zaire province, has been prohibited three years ago due to lack of lighting signals looted by unknown people.

The head of security department of the Port of Soyo Captaincy, attached to the Ministry of Transport, Baptista André, reported Monday to Angop that 23 of the 25 lighting signals placed along the River Congo channel were stolen, making impossible the night navigation.

The Port of Soyo Captaincy has among other duties to comply and to impose on the enforcement laws regarding shipping, trade, tugs and supply vessels, as well as security and discipline towards navigation and assistance to bathers.

Its jurisdiction area goes from the north of the town of Nóqui to Kinzau (Tomboco), as well as the right bank of the River Loge (between Nzeto and Bengo).
