Angola to Train Sao Tome and Principe Police

Sao Tome Police will benefit in the near future from training courses to be provided by Angola, in the light of the partnership between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the archipelago and the Interior Ministry of Angola, Angop has learnt.

The guarantee was given to the press Friday by the Angolan Interior Minister Ângelo Veiga Tavares, at the end of the audience granted to him by the president of Sao Tome and Principe, Manuel Pinto da Costa, at the Trinity Palace.

According to the official, the actions are directed to the National Police, in particular the Civil Protection, Fire Brigade Service, Immigration and Foreigners Service.

The interior minister received from president Pinto da Costa, a message of congratulations to his Angolan counterpart José Eduardo dos Santos, who celebrated Friday his 73rd birthday.

The minister, who is paying a five-day visit to Sao Tome and Principe, has previously been at the General Command of the National Police and Agua Grande Municipal Command, located in São Tomé.

Ângelo Veiga Tavares attended, on Thursday morning, in Trinidad, the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Sao Tome police, accompanied by the Angolan ambassador, Alfredo Eduardo Mingas.

The minister and his delegation is expected to return to Angola on Saturday.
